Principles of the Laser Detection System

      In our laser-based detection system, vehicle length is used as the primary identifying feature and is measured using two laser-based detector units. Vehicle presence is detected based on the absence of reflected laser light. Two of these units are integrated and placed a known distance apart, allowing the velocity of the object and its residence time under each detector to be measured. The proinciple of detection is shown in Figure 1.
